  • England Lions vs India A Live Updates, 1st Unofficial Test Day Harsh Dubey Strikes, England Lions Go 2 Down

Harsh Dubey dismissed Emilio Gay to send England Lions two down on the second day of the four-day Unofficial Test in Canterbury on Saturday. Ben McKinney was cleaned up by pacer Anshul Kamboj, who was quite impressive in his lively spell, marked by accuracy and good amount of swing. Earlier, India A raised a massive 557 in in their first innings around Karun Nair’s double hundred. Karun made 204 off 281 balls (26×4, 1×6) as India A continued their strong marchIndia’s young guns have the talent to achieve something special in the upcoming England Test series, provided they back themselves, said AB de Villiers here on Saturday, adding that it’s time for the new generation to step up. With the 25-year-old Shubman Gill at the helm, India will start a new cycle of the World Test Championship with a five-Test tour of England next month without their seasoned campaigners in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who both announced their retirement recently.

There’s lots of talent in India and largely credit to the IPL for that, (it is) really giving great exposure to some of the youngsters at a very early age. We saw Vaibhav Suryavanshi this year (and) many other youngsters, they come in their first year and they look very mature and ready to play cricket and it’s a great platform for Indian cricket,” he said.

The former South African skipper said the tour of England will be a tough test for the young Indian side, but keeping the belief could help them pull off a favourable result.

“They’ve got to take some responsibility on in England, it’ll be a tough test, but they have all the talent in the world and if they believe, maybe they can achieve something special.” De Villiers, who shares a special bond with his former Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammate Kohli, said he will be missed in Test cricket.

“He followed his gut feel. I think he has done a lot for cricket around the world over the years. Luckily, we’ll still see him on the cricket field. He will be missed in Test matches, there is no doubt about it, but he leaves (behind) a great legacy with the red ball,” de Villiers said.alking about the Indian Premier League, de Villiers still backed Punjab Kings, who suffered an eight-wicket thrashing at the hands of RCB in Qualifier 1, to reach the final.

PBKS will take on Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad on Sunday for Qualifier 2.

“I said quite a while ago, about a month ago, that Gujarat (Titans) and RCB will be in the final. It looks like the odds are against my call but it is still cricket, you never know, it is a knockout match,” he said.

“It takes one or two great performances to turn the pressure onto your opposition. It’s still going to be Punjab but I’ve got a little bit of doubt on my mind after watching last night’s game,” said de Villiers, pointing out at the contest between MI and Gujarat Titans in which the five-times champion emerged winner in the high-scoring Eliminator.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi on Friday (local time), who is leading an all-party delegation to Latvia, emphasised India’s unity following the Pahalgam terror attack and said that “nothing is going to divide us anymore.”

Interacting with the Indian community in Latvia, Kanimozhi said, “When our Indian tourists were attacked and we lost 26 innocent lives in front of their families, loved ones, children and with a message – Go tell your Prime Minister, go tell your country people that we asked you what your faith is. They hope to divide us as a country. They hope to divide us on our beliefs. • Who Is Megha Vemuri? Indian-American Banned From MIT Event For Pro-Palestine Speech

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has banned Indian-American student Megha Vemuri from her graduation commencement ceremony after she delivered a pro-Palestine speech during an event on Thursday (May 29). Ms Vemuri, MIT’s class of 2025 president, was scheduled to be the marshal at the ceremony, but university chancellor, Melissa Nobles, announced she could not attend the event.

Ms Noble also stated that Ms Vemuri and her family were banned from the college campus for most of the day.

“You deliberately and repeatedly misled Commencement organizers,” Ms Nobles wrote in an email to Ms Vemuri, as per the Boston Globe.

“While we acknowledge your right to free expression, your decision to lead a protest from the stage, disrupting an important institute ceremony, was a violation of MIT’s time, place and manner rules for campus expression.”Wearing a red keffiyeh, a scarf intended to show support for the Palestinian cause, Ms Vemuri slated Israel for its actions in Gaza. She also slammed the university for its ties to Israel and called on fellow graduates to take a stand.

“The Israeli occupation forces are the only foreign military that MIT has research ties with; this means that Israel’s assault on the Palestinian people is not only aided and abetted by our country, but our school,” Ms Vemuri said.

“We are watching Israel try to wipe Palestine off the face of the earth, and it is a shame that MIT is a part of it.”

She praised students who had stood up in support of Palestine despite pressure from the top hierarchy at the university.

“Last spring, MIT’s undergraduate body and Graduate Student Union voted overwhelmingly to cut ties with the genocidal Israeli military. You called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and you stood in solidarity with the pro-Palestine activists on campus,” she said.Born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia, Ms Vemuri completed her high school at Alpharetta High School in Georgia and graduated in 2021. In the same year, Ms Vemuri enrolled at MIT where she recently completed her undergraduate degree in computer science, neuroscience, and linguistics while serving as the president of the graduating class.

She is also a part of Written Revolution, which is a MIT student group and provides a platform to revolutionary ideas. Before that she worked as a research intern with the UCT Neuroscience Institute in South Africa.
